When UAV batteries go rogue

Had a hilarious moment during a recent exercise — we were all set for a reconnaissance flight, and just as I initiated takeoff, I got a low battery warning. Turns out, my pre-flight checklist got a little too focused on mission specifics and I forgot to check the battery level — just goes to show that even the best operators can have a laugh when drones have a mind of their own.

Had a similar issue with a UAV last month — forgot to check on a battery recap before a night op… Always good to have a backup plan! :joy:.

Funny you mention that! I once got stuck with a UAV that had a mind of its own during a night operation because I skipped the battery check — had to scramble back to base for a quick swap. It’s all fun and games until you’re chasing a drone that thinks it’s on a joyride. @dchavez47, definitely worth building in a backup plan.
